FERNE is a non-profit organization dedicated to initiatives related to education and research in neurologic emergencies. Resident education is one of FERNE’s primary missions. In the past, FERNE has sponsored symposiums that have used case based teaching and computer driven response systems. Materials developed for the symposiums have been provided to participants in order to facilitate the transfer of information when residents return to their institutions. To further promote FERNE’s education mission, presentations from symposiums are video-mainstreamed onto this website.
FERNE would like to work with the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine’s (SAEM) Neurologic Interest Group in support of the development of curricula that will help to standardize the training of Emergency Medicine Residents in the area of neurologic emergencies. These curricula could be the source of content for future FERNE resident meetings, as well as web-based learning on the FERNE web page. These curricula could follow the areas of interest that FERNE ultimately promotes.
